Bryan Konietzko is a director, writer, and producer. Konietzko is a cocreator of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. He was educated at the Rhode Island School of Design.Michael Dante DiMartino is an American animation director best known as the cocreator, executive producer, and story editor of the animated TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, both on Nickelodeon. He was born in Shelburne, Vermont. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design with Bryan Konietzko, with whom he created Avatar. Before Avatar, Mike worked for twelve years at Film Roman, helping to direct King of the Hill, Family Guy, and Mission Hill in addition to his own animated short, Atomic Love. The author lives in Santa Monica, California.

Wer genauso wie ich die Serie geliebt hat, für den ist der Comic ein Muss. Ich habe selbst erst kürzlich erfahren dass es diese Comics gibt und war sehr begeistert. Eine schöne Fortsetzung der gesamten Geschichte. Man erfährt wie es (Spoiler für die Serie) z.B. Zuko mit dem Dasein als "Fire-Lord" zurechtkommt. Die Illustrationen in dem Buch sind schön und erinnern natürlich an die Serie. Zwar ist die Beziehung zwischen Aang und Katara irritierend, aber etwas worüber man hinweg sehen kann um weiter die Story miterleben zu können.
Ist schon beeindruckend, was Bryan Konietzko und Michael Dante DiMartino mit der Avatar-Reihe geschaffen haben! In diesem Buch ist liebevoll beschrieben, wie sie ihre Ideen bekommen haben und wie sie diese Ideen schließlich umsetzten. Jede Folge wird - meist auf mehreren Seiten - mit Worten und vor allem vielen Bildern dokumentiert. Konzeptzeichnungen, Auszüge aus Storyboards und kleine Anekdoten machen dieses Buch vor allem für Avatar-Fans interessant, die sich auch allgemein für Cartoons begeistern. So sind viele Charaktere - etwa die bunt zusammengewürfelte Piratengruppe oder die Sumpfbändiger - echten Personen, meist aus dem Freundes- und Kollegenkreis, nachempfunden. Die beeindruckenden Martial-Arts-Animationen? Konietzko konnte mit Sifu Kisu einen echten Meister gewinnen, der jeder Bändigungstechnik einen eigenen Stil gab. Der Pfeil auf Aangs Kopf? Der sollte ursprünglich einen Roboter zieren. Der Erdbändiger aus dem Vorspann? Das war der ursprüngliche Entwurf für Toph. All das macht dieses Buch zu einer hervorragenden Ergänzung für alle, die nicht genug vom Avatar bekommen können. Ich kann es uneingeschränkt empfehlen!
Das Buch ist echt der Hammer! Es ist riesig und überhaupt nicht dazu geeignet, mit sich herum geführt zu werden, es ist wirklich eher für die Bibliothek geeignet und für den Gebrauch von zuhause aus.Einzig stören mich die dicken weißen Ränder, die aber wegen der zusätzlichen Kommentare und wegen des Formats wohl nötig waren. Es gibt am Ende auch ein paar Seiten Artwork, was mich auch sehr gefreut hat. Ich kann jedem dieses Meisterwerk empfehlen.Zum Inhalt muss ich glaube ich nicht viel sagen, ich finde ihn sehr gelungen und man hat das feeling wie bei der TV Serie. Schade, dass das alles nicht animiert wird!
Reading this comic is like watching an additional 5 or so episode of the series. The drawing style is similar, the characteristical banter is the same, and you finally find out what happened to Zuko and Azula's mother. It's nice to see Aang becoming taller as he's now thirteen, fourteen years old; still a kid, but a rapidly growing kid. Well recommended.
Sehr schönes Buch und sehr schöne Bilder. Wer ein Fan wird es lieben und das beste an allem ist, dass aufgeschrieben wurde wie die Geschcihte eigentlich entstand. Englisch beherrschen ist jedoch ein muss, da es sich nicht wirklich lohnt das Buch zu kaufen wenn man Englisch nicht beherrscht. Denn der Text ergänzt die Bilder und erklärt wieso, weshalbt, warum und wie.
Habe es heute bekommen und musste es sofort lesen.Es ist einfach spitze!Eine Klasse weiterführung der Serie welche sehr schön gezeichnet ist und der Humor, speziell von Toph und Sokka, kommt auch nicht zu kurz.Das Buch an sich wirkt sehr wertig von der Papierqualität und dem Druck.Ich freue mich schon darauf 'The Search', welches auch schon hier liegt, zu lesen und dann Anfang 2015 'The Rift'.
Die Story der Comics ist wunderbar. Doch ich habe alle fünf Gesambänder auf einmal in english gekauft und das Paket vom Lieferservice i-parcel sah schrecklich aus. Das Paket war auf der Seite offen und die Comics wurden alle an den Ecke beschädigt. Man zahlt einen stolzen Preis für diese Bände und sie sind super, aber ein solches Paket ist einfach inakzeptabel. Es hatte auch keine Polsterung.
Der Comic ist einfach nur wundervoll! Die Zeichungen sind wunderschön, die Charaktere wie in der Serie dargestellt und ich war einfach nur gebannt von der Story. Für jeden, der so wie ich, seit Ende der Serie sehnlich darauf gewartet hat, zu erfahren was mit Zukos Mutter passiert, ist dieser Comic ein Muss!Zusätzlich zum Hardcoverdesign sind auch noch interessante Entwicklerkommentare am Rand. Wenn ich könnte, ich würde 10 Sterne geben!
